Pineapple
Bromelain ist eine Bezeichnung für eine Gruppe eiweißabbauender Enzyme aus Pflanzen der Gattung Bromeliaceae. Es liegt in besonders hoher Konzentration im Stamm und der Frucht der Ananaspflanze (Ananas comosus) vor. Als Proteasen unterstützen diese Enzyme die Pflanze bei der Spaltung von Proteinen und dienen ihr natürlicherweise zur Abwehr von Schädlingen. In der Nahrungsergänzung wird Bromelain häufig in der Einheit GDU (Gelatin Dissolving Units) dosiert.
