Heather blossom
Heather (Calluna vulgaris), also known as common heather, is an evergreen dwarf shrub widespread on poor, sandy soils across Europe. The plant shapes entire landscapes – the best-known is the Lüneburg Heath with its late-summer display of vivid violet blooms. The small flowers contain, among other things, flavonoids, tannins and arbutin. In European herbal practice, heather blossom has been brewed as a tea since the Middle Ages.
