Cistus incanus
Cistus incanus, the grey-haired rockrose, is an evergreen shrub native to the Mediterranean. The plant prefers dry, calcareous soils and is adapted to the intense sunlight of southern Europe. Its striking pink flowers open for only a single day. Cistus incanus is particularly rich in polyphenols — a group of secondary plant metabolites. In Greek and Turkish tradition the plant has long been used.
