Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is the natural green pigment of plants and plays a central role in photosynthesis, the process by which plants convert sunlight into energy. Chemically, chlorophyll is similar to the human blood pigment haemoglobin, but it differs by having a magnesium atom rather than an iron atom at its centre. In dietary supplements, the water‑soluble form chlorophyllin is often used.
