Astragalus
Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus), also known as milkvetch or Huang Qi, is a leguminous plant that has been an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for millennia. The root of the plant is primarily used and is only harvested after four to seven years of growth.
Characteristic constituents include polysaccharides, saponins (particularly astragalosides) and flavonoids.
