A unique flavoured paste with an exotic taste
Organic Tamarind Paste from Unimedica makes numerous dishes richer with its characteristic fruity herbal to sweet & sour taste. The intensive flavour of the nutrient-rich tamarind is valued for numerous dishes such as chutney, curry, soups, marinades or sweet-sour sauces. Tamarinds are exotic pulses. They look like cinnamon-coloured large beans. The seeds are found within tough shells, enclosed in a brownish to black-red fruit that is mainly used as a food.
Tamarind from organic cultivation and water – nothing else
Our paste consists of 70 % tamarind fruit plus 30 % water. The tamarind we use comes exclusively from strictly certified organic cultivation.
A multifaceted gem for global cuisine
Tamarind paste is suitable to flavour cold and cooked dishes or even as lemonade. It is an essential ingredient especially in Asia but is also very popular in the cuisine of Africa and Latin America. Tamarind is so versatile because the leaves as well as the fruit and even the seeds of the tamarind tree can be used. Among other things, tamarind pulp is found in Worcester sauce.
Conquering the world with a hard shell and soft pulp
Our Organic Tamarind Paste is made from the fruit of the tamarind tree (Tamarindus indica). The tamarind tree belongs to the Caesalpiniaceae subfamily in the Fabaceae (legume, bean and pea) family. The plant originally comes from East Africa and then spread to India, from which it reached the southern hemisphere. The seed coats are processed to powder for use as glue in the textile and paper industries. The hard slow-growing wood of the tamarind tree is used for woodwork.
