Evening primrose oil
Evening primrose oil is extracted from the seeds of the common evening primrose (Oenothera biennis), a plant native to North America that has been naturalised in Europe since the 17th century. The oil is particularly rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid. The evening primrose takes its name from the fact that its yellow flowers only open at dusk.
