Guggul extract - 520 mg per daily dose (1 capsule) - 120 capsules - from Unimedica
Guggul is also called “Indian myrrh”. In India this resin is highly revered and affectionately referred to as the “protector of man”. Even the Vedic texts mention myrrh. In Ayurveda the resin, whether used as incense or as an extract, is attributed very special properties — it is said that guggul restores balance to all three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Guggul extract, also known as guggulsterones or Commiphora wightii, is obtained from the resin of the guggul tree, which is native to India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Produktinformationen
An ancient resin rediscovered with versatile benefits
Guggul extract is obtained from the precious resin of the balsam tree Commiphora mukul. For centuries this resin has played a special role in the Ayurvedic tradition and has been used in many ways to support overall well‑being and a healthy appearance from within. It contains numerous secondary plant compounds, notably a high content of flavones.
Rich in flavones and more than 60 other plant compounds
Each capsule of Unimedica Guggul extract contains 520 mg of highly concentrated guggul extract, standardised to 4% flavones. These yellow plant pigments belong to the secondary plant compounds. Flavones are vital for the plant as they protect it from environmental influences. In addition to flavones, guggul contains over 60 phytochemical substances that enable the plant to thrive in the dry desert regions of India. The capsule shell of our guggul extract capsules is made from cellulose and is therefore entirely plant‑based – ideal for those who follow a vegan diet.
What do flavones do?
Flavones are widely occurring secondary plant compounds in nature. They are a subgroup of the flavonoids and perform a variety of biological functions in plants. Flavones act as natural antagonists to potentially harmful metabolic waste and help regulate oxidative processes. They also support plants in defending against environmental stresses such as UV radiation and pest infestation.
Which foods contain flavones?
Flavones are found, among other sources, in citrus fruits, parsley and various medicinal herbs. High concentrations of these valuable plant compounds are also present in green tea, celery and red clover.
How guggul extract capsules can help
The concentration of flavones and the potential of numerous plant compounds make Unimedica’s guggul extract a valuable component of a conscious diet. Flavones are particularly interesting for metabolism. Those who wish to benefit from the specific advantages of guggul and deliberately supplement their diet with high‑quality secondary plant compounds will find these capsules a good solution. Guggul can be an appealing supplement especially for people who prefer a plant‑based, balanced diet.
The long tradition of the tree resin
The mukul myrrh tree, also called Indian myrrh, grows under extreme conditions in India and North Africa and produces a resin that was exported as far as Rome in antiquity. Guggul is a gum resin, also known as bdellium resin or gummi bdellium. The yellowish resin is obtained by making incisions in the trunk of the mukul myrrh tree (Indian myrrh) and then air‑drying it.
Guggul is not only available in capsule form but the resin in its natural form is also used as incense. In India it is traditionally burned to keep mosquitoes away. While guggul is now seldom used in modern cuisine, its constituents are found in various Ayurvedic herbal blends and teas. In antiquity it was also processed into ointments and tinctures.
Each amber glass bottle of Unimedica Guggul extract contains 120 capsules. This corresponds to a 4‑month supply.
