For many people, camu camu is simply "a vitamin C fruit". But that's just the surface - and that's where the misunderstanding begins. What I learnt about camu camu I didn't know myself before, and I'm sure most people don't know either. The real speciality of camu camu is not the amount of vitamin C, although it is impressive. What makes camu camu unique is the combination of natural vitamin C and rare co-factors that only occur in this fruit in exactly this structure. In nature, it's not the quantity that counts - it's the synergy. Camu Camu contains myricetin, ellagic acid, quercetin and proanthocyanidins - bioactive molecules that fit like keys into the biochemical locks of cells. They activate processes that are increasingly associated in research with longevity, DNA stability and the regeneration of damaged cells. I take high doses of vitamin C (6 capsules per day) as an antioxidant against arthritis and to increase the body's defences against colds and flu. Before I placed my first order, I did some research online and was told information that camu camu is the better vitamin C. The acerola fruit is second only to the camu camu berry. It has an antioxidant effect and I can definitely feel that. Hello, I feel the same way. I received the capsules yesterday and the colour seems a bit odd to me too... I opened the capsules and did a taste test (as it looks like ascorbic acid with beetroot powder to me) and lo and behold – it tastes exactly the same... So for me, this is not camu camu, which is a shame!

I received the following response from customer service: Thank you for your email. We have a new raw material. From batch L02-17012025 onwards, the powder is no longer beige but pink. It is pure camu camu extract. Please accept our apologies for not informing you about this. We have the following information from the relevant department: The skin of the camu camu berry is light yellow-green at the beginning of its growth and becomes redder as the fruit ripens. The fully ripe berry has a deep red-purple skin with a high vitamin C content (Castro et al., 2018). We have used high-quality, optimally ripened berries, which is why the end product has a pink colour. Whether this is trustworthy or not remains questionable.

Thank you for providing me with the feedback from the tax office! This only reinforces my belief that something is more than questionable here... When ripe, the berries have yellowish flesh and a deep red-purple skin. When dried, this produces a beige-brown powder. How the pink-white colouring comes about remains Unimedica's secret. My trust, which was unclouded at first, is now gone...
