Produktinformationen
A restful night is the best way to start the new day
Scientific findings indicate that restful sleep is essential for body and mind, and it depends on a number of factors. Healthy, varied and balanced nutrition is an important building block.
The specially formulated Siebenschläfer* capsules from Unimedica contain alongside the amino acid L-tryptophan, selected B vitamins and high-quality plant extracts with melatonin, also known as the sleep hormone. Melatonin helps to reduce the time needed to fall asleep. This positive effect can be achieved by taking 1 mg melatonin shortly before bedtime.
7 ingredients in a single capsule
The vegan Siebenschläfer* capsules from Unimedica are enriched with 1 mg melatonin per capsule. The unique composition also contains vitamins B6, folic acid and B12, the essential amino acid tryptophan and the valued ayurvedic plants brahmi and ashwagandha in organic quality.
The "sleep" hormone melatonin is produced in the pineal gland (in the interbrain) from serotonin. It regulates our circadian rhythm. Melatonin is produced when it gets dark. It ensures that we get tired and the body switches to resting mode for the night. We therefore sometimes feel tired during the winter days because of a lack of daylight. Increasing age leads to a reduction in the body's melatonin production, resulting in sleep disorders.
Tryptophan is an essential amino acid, which means it must be absorbed in food. L-tryptophan is the most natural and biologically available form. This protein building block is a precursor for the body's production of melatonin and serotonin. The amino acid tryptophan directly and indirectly supports the production of melatonin. For Siebenschläfer*, tryptophan from plant-based fermentation is used.
The vitamins B6 (pyridoxine), B9 (folic acid) and B12 (cobalamin) contribute to normal psychological functioning. Vitamins B6 and B12 contribute to normal functioning of the nervous system.
Organic brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) is also known as water hyssop, herb of grace or Indian pennywort. It belongs to the plantain family and plays a central role in ayurveda. This plant is found mainly in tropical or subtropical regions and is rich in valuable ingredients. These include flavonoids and saponins as well as phytosterol and specifically brahmin, which gives brahmi its unique properties. For the Siebenschläfer* capsules from Unimedica, organic brahmi is carefully pulverised, preserving the valuable plant-based ingredients.
This is also true for the organic ashwagandha extract used. Ashwagandha is also a major component of ayurvedic healing. Ashwagandha (Whithania somnifera) is also known as winter cherry. This nightshade plant is found in south Asia, north Africa and south Europe.
How a balanced diet can help improve sleep
Our daily diet can also support good sleep. Melatonin is found in oats, corn, rice, wheat and barley as well as pistachios, and also in red fruits such as cranberries and sour cherries. But the overall level of melatonin in foods is low. B vitamins are found in meat, fish, eggs and milk. Wholegrain products, cereals and pulses also provide B vitamins. Vitamin B12 is found exclusively in animal products. Tryptophan is found in pumpkin seeds, soya beans, cheese and turkey.
