Description
Maca — a hardy root
Organic maca powder is made from the yellow maca root. More precisely, it is the part of the plant between the root tip and the seed leaves (cotyledons). The maca plant grows on the barren high plateaus of the Peruvian Andes at 4,000 metres altitude. It withstands extreme weather conditions and is adapted to the mineral volcanic stone soils.
This gives the maca plant — which belongs to the cress family — its extraordinary resilience and nutrient density.
Organic raw-food quality from the Andes
Due to the special climate of the high Andes, no pesticides or fertilisers are needed for maca to thrive. The roots are sun-dried and milled in Peru to raw-food quality. The powder has traditionally been used in baked goods or as a porridge.
According to legend, the Incas took maca after battles or hard work to restore strength and aid recovery.
Vegan, organic and free from additives
Unimedica organic maca powder is a raw powder from organic cultivation in Peru, certified organic according to EU standards. Organic maca powder is, in line with legal requirements, free from preservatives and contains no additives such as colourings, stabilisers, anti-caking agents like magnesium stearate. It is also non-GMO, lactose-free, gluten-free, gelatine-free and vegan.
