Produktinformationen
Natural harmony with a warming cup of organic liquorice root tea
ORGANIC Liquorice Root Tea from Unimedica offers an earthy depth and subtle sweetness. Its fine liquorice flavour is familiar to us from liquorice sweets.
Our liquorice root tea consists of finely sliced organic liquorice root (Liquiritiae radix nat. conc. organic). Its certified organic origin guarantees an unadulterated taste with the preservation of all valuable ingredients. Liquorice root tea is a popular home remedy – for example, for an itchy throat. It warms and comforts us.
What gives liquorice root its characteristic flavour?
Liquorice root contains natural components such as glycyrrhizin, which is responsible for the characteristic sweet taste and the liquorice flavour. It is 50 times stronger than raw sugar. Whereas glycyrrhizin naturally sweetens the tea, over 40 flavonoids, saponins and polysaccharides as secondary plant substances contribute to the overall taste, which is appreciated by many tea-lovers.
What is liquorice root?
Our ORGANIC Liquorice Root Tea is made from carefully selected sliced roots of true liquorice. This is a herbaceous plant belonging to the pulses. The roots are harvested and processed after flowering in autumn. Liquorice grows above all in the Mediterranean and West Asia as it needs warmth.
Where else can one find such marvellous ingredients?
Whereas liquorice root is a main source of glycyrrhizin, flavonoids are also found in a range of fruit and vegetable species. Saponins are found in certain beans, pulses and other plants. Similar ingredients can also be found in other plants such as citrus fruits, green tea and red grapes.
Each package contains 250 g of sliced liquorice root.
