Echinacea
Echinacea, the coneflower, originates from North America, where it was traditionally used by indigenous peoples. There are several species, of which Echinacea purpurea and Echinacea angustifolia are the most commonly used.
The plant contains various active compounds such as alkamides, polysaccharides and caffeic acid derivatives. Echinacea preparations are made from the herb, the root or the whole plant and are available as drops, pressed juice, tablets or tea.
