Maca - a resilient root
Organic maca powder is made from the yellow maca root. More precisely, it is the part of the plant between the root tip and the cotyledons. The maca plant grows in the barren highlands of the Peruvian Andes at 4,000 metres altitude. It endures extreme weather conditions and is adapted to mineral-rich volcanic soils.
This gives the maca plant its exceptional resilience and nutrient density; it belongs to the cress family (Brassicaceae).
Organic raw-food quality from the Andes
Because of the special climate in the high Andes, neither pesticides nor fertilisers are required for maca to thrive. The roots are sun-dried and milled in Peru to raw-food quality. The powder is traditionally popular for use in baked goods or as a porridge.
