Thiamine
Thiamine (vitamin B1) was the first vitamin to be discovered and is essential for energy metabolism. It contributes to normal heart function, the normal functioning of the nervous system and normal psychological function.
The body cannot store thiamine, so a regular intake is important. Good sources include wholegrain products, legumes, pork and sunflower seeds. Alcohol consumption increases the requirement.
