The Garlic Oil capsules from Unimedica offer garlic in a modern and comfortable form: almost completely odourless and with a neutral taste as well as easy to take. A process of gentle natural fermentation followed by dissolving in sunflower oil produces a premium garlic oil extract concentrated 500 : 1 in the form of small and easy-to-swallow softgel capsules.
The capsule shell from beef gelatine securely encapsulates the liquid garlic extract with its distinctive aroma. Just the faintest scent can be detected and this continually dissipates after opening the brown glass bottle.
Garlic – one of the oldest spices known to humankind
Garlic (Allium sativum) originally came from Central Asia. It now grows almost all over the world since it is so easy to cultivate. Garlic has been used for more than 5000 years as a spice and a healing plant – for example, in Ancient Egypt or the Middle Ages. The garlic bulb contains a rich array of valuable nutrients. This includes especially the sulphur compound allicin. These Garlic Oil softgel capsules contain 1 % allicin.
Allicin – the natural defence of garlic
Allicin is responsible for the typical garlic aroma. This sulphur-containing substance is formed from alliin when the garlic is processed. Cutting or pressing the garlic bulb damages the cell walls so that the alliin comes into contact with various enzymes, which together generate allicin. The properties of allicin protect the garlic from pests and germs.
