A tiny seed with concentrated nutritional power
The natural organic chia seeds from Unimedica come from controlled organic cultivation in Paraguay. They have raw food quality and are a versatile superfood.
Organic chia seeds are the seeds of the South American sage plant Salvia hispanica. It is a pseudo-cereal that played an important role in the diet of the Maya and Aztecs 5000 years ago due to its nutrient density. Even today, chia is valued in South America and now worldwide as a filling ingredient and effective source of nutrients.
Get the right fat with this superfood
Their naturally concentrated nutritional power has earned the tiny black chia seeds a reputation as a superfood. Organic chia seeds are rich in fiber and unsaturated fats such as omega-3 fatty acids. However, they also have an exceptionally high concentration of other micronutrients.
Not just a welcome addition to vegan cuisine
Chia seeds, which are now also popular in our country, add a neutral flavor to muesli and dairy dishes, thicken smoothies, water, juices and jams and are a popular ingredient in baked goods. When sprouted, chia seeds enrich salads. In vegan cuisine, chia seeds are valued as a plant-based binding agent and - when dissolved in water or plant-based milk drink - as an egg substitute in baking.
How do chia seeds support well-being?
The high content of swelling fiber in chia seeds makes you feel full for longer. This is because when combined with liquid, the fiber swells up and the volume fills the stomach. The microbial intestinal flora also benefits from fiber, which serves as food. Dietary fibers are long-chain, long-fiber carbohydrates that are difficult or impossible to digest.
Alternative sources of omega-3 fatty acids and fiber
Omega-3 fatty acids can also be found in oily sea fish, algae and vegetable oils as well as in linseed. Sources of fiber include green vegetables and whole grain products.
Why chia is a superfood
The advantage of chia seeds lies in their high nutrient density and their superior high content of fiber, unsaturated fatty acids and micronutrients compared to other foods. Just a few chia seeds cover the need for important nutrients without burdening the body or adding significant energy. A maximum of 15 g of chia seeds should be consumed daily.
Each pack contains 500 g of chia seeds.
