Produktinformationen
What is Royal Jelly?
Royal Jelly is the enzyme-rich and nutrient-dense secretion produced by worker bees, with which they feed the queen bee and the bee larvae. It is essentially the "power food" for the bee offspring, but primarily for the "queen mother". Her sole task is to reproduce her colony. Royal jelly is also referred to as queen feed sap.
The use of royal jelly by humans can be traced back to antiquity and other cultural regions such as China and India. It is taken orally and is also used in cosmetics.
How the queen secures the survival of her colony with royal jelly
From hatching until their third day of life, all bee larvae in a colony receive royal jelly. For the queen bee, royal jelly remains her only food throughout her life. This enables her to live for three to four years.
A worker bee that receives royal jelly only until its third day of life reaches a lifespan of between 30 and 40 days. If a queen larva receives royal jelly two days longer than a worker larva, she will have already grown to more than double the size. In addition, she is larger and more robust than her fellow bees.
What role does 10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid (10-HDA) play in royal jelly?
Organic Royal Jelly from Unimedica naturally contains more than 4% 10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid (10-HDA). This is a fatty acid and occurs as a bioactive compound in royal jelly. It contributes to the relatively good shelf life of the jelly. The content depends on many factors such as season, location and weather.
In Unimedica's Organic Royal Jelly capsules, 100% organically produced, subsequently freeze-dried royal jelly is contained within a plant-based capsule shell.
Each tin of royal jelly from Unimedica contains 120 capsules. That corresponds to a four-month supply.
