Propolis — also known as "bee glue" — is produced by bees from the resins of buds and twigs of trees and herbs. They use the germ-free propolis to protect their beehive from intruders, from infections caused by viruses and bacteria, and from fungal infestation. Propolis also serves the bees as a repair material for the beehive.
For the propolis extract from Unimedica, natural bee propolis is made usable by water extraction. This has the advantage that the product is alcohol-free as a food supplement. Furthermore, the innovative process largely preserves the many valuable constituents of propolis.
