Description
An underestimated wild herb
Löwenzahn is wrongly considered a weed. It is a valuable wild plant packed with micronutrients and secondary plant compounds. Traditional herbal medicine has prized Löwenzahn for centuries. Our organic Löwenzahn root extract in convenient capsule form makes it easy to draw on the benefits of this plant anywhere, anytime — and all in certified organic quality.
10-fold concentrated in a plant-based capsule
Organic Löwenzahn root extract from Unimedica is obtained exclusively from the roots of organically grown Löwenzahn plants, since the characteristic secondary plant compounds of Löwenzahn are found primarily in the roots. The extract is standardised to a 10:1 ratio. This means each capsule contains ten times more of Löwenzahn's natural constituents than Löwenzahn tea or fresh or dried plant parts. The pure Löwenzahn root extract is encased in a plant-based capsule made from cellulose.
Bitters
The slightly bitter taste of the plant parts points to the plant's main benefit for our body: bitters. Traditionally, bitters such as those provided by Löwenzahn are used as a home remedy after heavy meals or for loss of appetite.
Which foods also contain bitters?
Bitters are also present in other foods, for example artichokes, milk thistle, chicory, rocket, endive, radicchio, asparagus, kale, cauliflower, nettle, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and legumes.
Powerful as a lion
Löwenzahn is a perennial, herbaceous wild plant that spreads across meadows, roadside verges and uncultivated areas in our regions. This hardy plant pushes through the tiniest wall cracks and even through asphalt. It is characterised by bright yellow flower heads and toothed leaves at the base around the stem, which contains a milky sap. The plant of the genus Taraxacum is native to Europe and Western Asia and now occurs across the entire Northern Hemisphere. In spring the bright petals attract bees for the first honey of the year, and in early summer the seed parachutes (dandelion clocks) delight children. The whole plant — from root to flower — is suitable for consumption both fresh and dried. A particular Russian species of Löwenzahn even yields a rubber alternative from its milky sap, suitable for rubber production.
Each jar of organic Löwenzahn root extract from Unimedica contains 120 capsules. This corresponds to a four-month supply.
