Description
Underrated wild herb
Löwenzahn is wrongly considered a weed. It is a valuable wild plant full of micronutrients and secondary plant compounds. Traditional herbal medicine has valued Löwenzahn for centuries. Our Organic Löwenzahn root extract in convenient capsule form makes it easy to take advantage of this plant's benefits anytime, anywhere. And all in certified organic quality.
10-fold concentrated in a plant-based capsule
Organic Löwenzahn root extract from Unimedica is obtained exclusively from the roots of organically grown Löwenzahn plants, as the plant's special secondary compounds are found mainly in the roots. The extract is standardised to a 10:1 ratio. That means each capsule contains ten times more of Löwenzahn's natural constituents than Löwenzahn tea or fresh or dried plant parts. A plant-based capsule made from cellulose surrounds the pure Löwenzahn root extract.
Bitter compounds
The slightly bitter taste of the plant parts points to the plant's greatest benefit for our body: bitter compounds. Traditionally, bitter compounds such as those provided by Löwenzahn are used as a home remedy after rich meals or in cases of poor appetite.
Which foods also provide bitter compounds?
Bitter compounds are also found in other foods, for example artichokes, milk thistle, chicory, rocket, endive, radicchio, asparagus, kale, cauliflower, stinging nettle, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and legumes.
Powerful as a lion
Löwenzahn is a perennial, herbaceous wild plant that spreads across meadows, verges and fallow ground in these parts. The lively herb pushes through the smallest wall crevices and even through asphalt. Characteristic are the bright yellow flower heads and the toothed leaves at the base around the stem, which contains a milky sap. The plant of the genus Taraxacum is native to Europe and West Asia. It now occurs across the entire Northern Hemisphere. In spring the bright petals attract bees for the first honey of the year, and in early summer the seed parachutes delight children as dandelion clocks. The whole plant, from root to flower, can be eaten both fresh and dried. A particular Russian species of Löwenzahn even provides a rubber alternative for rubber production with its milky sap.
