Lugol's solution
Unimedica's Lugol solution is prepared according to the original 1835 recipe. Since the 19th century the iodine–potassium iodide solution invented by the French physician Jean Guillaume Lugol has been used to cleanse wounds, as a home remedy, for starch testing and as a disinfectant. The addition of potassium iodide ensures the iodine dissolves more readily in water. Iodine is an essential trace element that supports normal thyroid function. Unimedica's Lugol solution contains 6.5 mg iodine per drop.

Lugol's solution according to the original recipe
Lugol's solution is an iodine solution. Iodine is an essential trace element, primarily important for normal thyroid function. In addition, iodine solution has been used since the 19th century to clean wounds and as a home remedy.
Lugol's solution is also used, for example, as a starch test and as a disinfectant. Iodine is only sparingly soluble in water. For this reason potassium iodide is added so that the iodine dissolves more readily.
Unimedica's Lugol's solution is manufactured according to the original 1835 formula devised by the French physician Jean Guillaume Lugol. The quality of this iodine solution complies with the European Pharmacopoeia.
Pharmaceutical iodine solution
Each 100 ml bottle of Unimedica's Lugol's solution contains an iodine–potassium iodide solution composed of 85% demineralised, pharmaceutically purified water, 10% potassium iodide (min. 99% pharmaceutical purity) and 5% iodine (min. 99.8% pharmaceutical purity). One drop of this iodine solution corresponds to a 6.5 mg dose of iodine.
Each dropper bottle of Unimedica's Lugol's solution contains 100 ml of iodine–potassium iodide solution.
