Description
Polyunsaturated fatty acids from the Antarctic seas
The SUPERBA 2™ krill oil capsules from Unimedica contain krill oil, a marine source of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). Unlike fish oil, there is neither a fishy aftertaste nor unpleasant burping after taking the capsules. Our krill oil capsules contain the branded raw material SUPERBA 2™. The krill used for this is caught using an environmentally friendly harvesting technology that is gentle on the Antarctic ecosystem. This is confirmed by the Eco Harvesting label.
No fish oil — no fishy taste
Our krill oil capsules contain astaxanthin and the polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. The unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids in krill oil are bound to phospholipids. That is why the capsules do not taste of fish. The phospholipids, in turn, contain choline — a water-soluble, vitamin-like compound that is also present in our cell membranes.
Improved formulation without flavourings
The odourless hard gel capsules (Licaps® capsules) made from fish gelatine are easy to swallow. They encase and seal the high-quality krill oil, so flavourings are deliberately omitted. Our krill oil capsules are a purely marine product.
Why omega-3 fatty acids are important
Polyunsaturated fatty acids such as the omega-3 fatty acids play an important role in several metabolic processes.
Omega-3 fatty acids in everyday foods
Omega-3 fatty acids are also found in foods such as rapeseed oil, hemp seeds and hemp oil, linseed and linseed oil, chia seeds and walnuts. For vegan or vegetarian diets, algal oil supplements are a good alternative.
Why supplementation with SUPERBA 2™ krill oil capsules may be beneficial
Supplementing with omega-3 fatty acids can be sensible because modern diets often contain too little omega-3. Many people do not consume enough oily fish, linseed or other omega-3-rich foods to adequately meet the requirement for these essential polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Where the nutrients in krill come from
SUPERBA 2™ krill oil capsules are made from sustainably harvested Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba). The shrimp-like crustaceans feed mainly on algae. Therefore our krill oil contains astaxanthin, the essential omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, and choline bound in phospholipids.
Free from the following additives
SUPERBA 2™ krill oil capsules from Unimedica are free from artificial flavourings and stabilisers, and are naturally gluten-free and lactose-free.
Bottled in Germany
SUPERBA 2™ krill oil capsules from Unimedica are bottled in Germany. The ecological krill harvest in the Antarctic is confirmed by the Eco Harvesting certification.
