Native to southern India
Jackfruit trees are native to southern India. There they grow on farms certified to EU organic standards. The fruits, weighing up to 50 kg, grow directly on the trunk and — when ripe — are sweet and fruity. If harvested unripe, however, they have little flavour but resemble meat in texture. The young fruits contain a lot of fibre and are virtually fat-free by nature.
Neutral in flavour with a texture similar to meat. Perfect as a vegan meat substitute for frying or cooking.
