The manufacturer states:
Fermented cod liver oil from Green Pasture is produced using a centuries-old traditional method in which cod livers are fermented for up to 6 months in an unheated lacto-fermentation process. This process is crucial for preserving and generating nutrients.
This fermented cod liver oil also contains the full natural spectra and co-factors of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. As Green Pasture Fermented Cod Liver Oil is an unprocessed product, it contains the above vitamins in the correct proportions, resulting in a synergistic interaction. The fermented cod liver oil does not contain the synthetic isolated forms found in conventional cod liver oil products and vitamin supplements.
The co-factors in this fermented cod liver oil support the body in absorbing the vitamins, resulting in improved uptake and effectiveness. In addition to the vitamins mentioned above, fermented cod liver oil contains a broad range of enzymes, quinones (coenzyme Q10), essential and non-essential fatty acids, PQQ and vitamin B17/Laetrile.
The taste of fermented cod liver oil is different from that of non-fermented cod liver oil. Because this oil is lacto-fermented, it tends to cause a tingling and prickling sensation in the throat. It is therefore recommended not to take this cod liver oil undiluted, but mixed with water, juice, milk, honey or maple syrup and swallowed quickly.
