Enzyme Complex with Calcium - 120 capsules - from Unimedica
What turns milk into cheese, grape juice into wine? Not only the ancient Greeks sought to uncover this secret. The same power helps us derive energy from food: enzymes. Enzymes break down nutrients for utilisation and are involved in many processes in the body. They are both produced by the body itself and taken in through the diet. Factors such as age, stress and other influences can impair enzyme production and activity. Unimedica's enzyme complex combines selected plant and animal enzymes with calcium, which supports the normal function of digestive enzymes.

Enzyme Complex with Calcium to support the digestive enzymes
Enzyme Complex combines a special mixture of plant and animal enzymes, combined with sango coral as the calcium source. Calcium supports normal functioning of the digestive enzymes. The capsules use DRCaps® technology, which is resistant to stomach acid so that the enzymes can safely pass through the stomach. The capsules should be taken on an empty stomach with plenty of liquid.
A targeted mixture of minerals and enzymes
Our Enzyme Complex contains the enzymes bromelain, pancreatin, papain as well as trypsin and chymotrypsin. Calcium supports the normal function of the digestive enzymes. This helps the optimal uptake of nutrients. In addition magnesium contributes to energy metabolism. The flavonol rutin is a plant pigment that is formed by plants as protection from UV light. This secondary plant substance is a glycoside of quercetin. The stomach acid-resistant DRCaps® capsule shells make sure the enzymes pass intact into the intestine, where they can exert their effect.
What role do enzymes play in the body?
Enzymes – also known in German as "ferments" – are organic compounds, usually proteins, that control and accelerate the biochemical reactions in the body, without themselves being changed. They act as biocatalysts and are formed in living cells. Enzymes take on various tasks in the body and play a decisive role in the efficient utilisation of nutrition.
Natural enzyme sources in food
The main sources of bromelain and papain are tropical fruits like pineapples and papayas, which naturally contain large amounts of these enzymes. Other fruits such as bananas, kiwi, pears and figs as well as vegetables such as tomatoes, broccoli, lettuce and courgette as well as nuts and fermented foods are rich in enzymes. Animal enzymes such as pancreatin, trypsin and chymotrypsin are extracted from pig pancreas.
How our Enzyme Complex can help
Enzymes can influence the body's functioning in many ways. They are vital to life. Yet stress, environmental influences and other demands of everyday life as well as the process of ageing can decrease the body's enzyme production. The uptake of enzymes from food supplements the body's own stock of enzymes. Yet strong heat can destroy the enzymes in food. So the use of Enzyme Complex capsules from Unimedica can be a sensible supplement to a varied diet.
The ancient Greeks were unaware of the exact mechanism – now we know what's behind it
A total of around 3000 enzymes has so far been shown to exist. They are the secret of the fig therapy mentioned in the bible. From ancient times natural healing has used plant juices for many different disturbances in wellbeing without knowing the secret compounds responsible for cure. The ancient Greeks, Arabs and Egyptians tried to find out what turned milk into cheese, grape juice into wine and flour into dough. Now we know that the secret is in the enzymes.
