Where there's smoke, there's fire.

We are all concerned about the victims of the devastating fires in California. So many people have lost their homes – and, worse, their loved ones.

Fires of this magnitude harm not only the area directly affected, but of course also the surrounding communities, which are literally choking under clouds of smoke and ash.

For breathing difficulties caused by external factors (e.g. fine particles in the air) we should first think of Arnica C30.

A cough, particularly one with a gagging reflex (as a result of inhaling too much smoke or poor air), calls for Ipecac C30 (Ipecacuanha).

Arnica 30 and Ipecac 30 can also be taken alternately if required, at intervals of a few minutes, until normal breathing is restored.

Under some circumstances it may also be necessary to take this combination of remedies over a longer period.

Furthermore, Euphrasia C30 is a good choice when the eyes are watery and burning, while Carbo veg C30 is indicated when one feels the lungs are not getting enough oxygen.

Can a person take all the remedies described above? The answer is yes — provided the conditions are present, all the remedies can be taken alternately at intervals of a few minutes or more.

I hope this post is helpful and gives hope to those affected.
