I warmly greet all mothers, because every day is Mother's Day! I hope you were thoroughly celebrated by your family or treated your own mother to something special. For many of us there is nothing lovelier than having our children close by.
In honour of Mother's Day and mothers, it seems only fitting to include Sepia in our list of indispensable remedies. There are homeopathics you simply cannot do without.
Sepia 200 is a tried-and-tested remedy for headaches and an excellent medicine especially for women.
Sepia and the hormones
Why women? Because when we think of Sepia we automatically think of the female reproductive hormones that for some reason have become imbalanced. In other words: women who have had children benefit demonstrably from Sepia just as much as women who have taken the contraceptive pill for years (the little hormone-destroyers that they are).
Now, just because you have severe headaches doesn’t mean that Sepia is always the right remedy. Remember that Sepia headaches are NOT sinus infections or headaches caused by weather changes .
Instead, the occurrence of a Sepia headache can very often — though not always — be linked to the menstrual cycle. The pain can occur before the period, during ovulation or even during menstrual bleeding (especially if the flow is light). Whenever these recurrent headaches come regularly and like clockwork, Sepia should be considered.
Sepia for headaches
As I have discussed before, we should be able to account for our choice of homeopathic remedies. So let’s try to tick off all the relevant boxes:
- Headaches
- Female
- Hormonal “imbalance” (from childbirth or artificial hormonal changes)
- Regular occurrence, like clockwork (around the period)
And here is another component I don’t think I’ve written about yet. If a thyroid problem is also involved, we can be almost certain that Sepia fits.
- Thyroid problems
Sepia as a constitutional remedy
Please remember that Sepia is generally not used as an acute remedy (i.e. as a medicine for acute headaches). In such cases, as an emergency remedy one might consider the Banerji protocol with Picricum acidum 200 in combination with Belladonna 3, to be taken every three hours. More information about dosage and potency can be found here.
However, taking Sepia 200 once or perhaps twice a week might be considered in order to eradicate the chronic tendency to this type of regularly occurring headache, so that all acute remedies eventually become unnecessary.
Mothers are generally under stress. I know that! I am one myself! That’s why I want to offer you a remedy with superpowers — healing powers so great you can fully live your motherhood. Powers that give you the strength to care for others and perhaps even contribute to your family’s financial security.
I wish you a wonderful time with your family. Homeopathy helps — pass it on!
Warmly,
Yours
