That makes me feel sick: peer pressure or what you can do about nausea

It makes me feel sick: Peer pressure or what you can do about nausea

Now it's time to confess my sins to you.

I smoked cigarettes … for many years, even. My very first cigarette made me feel sick to my stomach.

To be honest, I actually had to suppress the feeling of nausea for several months. Such was the power of peer pressure and stupidity in the teenage years. In fact, I regularly talk with many families – and my own children – about peer pressure and why you shouldn't give in to it.

Many doctors, including some paediatricians, also use this pressure to coerce mothers into giving their children antibiotics, cortisone and other medications.

It is fairly obvious that risk-taking behaviour is closely linked with peer pressure and social conformity. I desperately wanted to be grown-up back then and forced myself to accept the unpleasant side effects of smoking.

But I'm getting off topic, because today I want to write about nausea.

You may recall the unpleasant nausea you certainly suffered as a teenage smoker. If you are among those who never smoked, then imagine the nausea that hits you every time you light a cigarette. That is the effect of tobacco.

Tobacco – homeopathically diluted

If, however, we dilute tobacco homeopathically, to potency levels such as C30 or C200, we can effectively treat nausea. Dear people – that's what I call intelligent homeopathy. Like cures like.

For pregnancy nausea, for example, Tabacum 200, taken once daily, is the appropriate remedy. Further information on homeopathic potencies can be found here.

For travel sickness in a moving vehicle – also on a ship – Tabacum 30 will relieve the symptoms.

You are probably wondering whether this remedy is the only one that can help in these situations. Of course it is not.

Arsenicum, Ipecacuanha and Veratrum albumDrogenmittel in der Homotherapie - Peter Fraser

There is also Arsenicum album 3, 30 or 200. But this remedy is more often given for vomiting and burning stomach pains, especially when they follow a spoiled stomach.

Then there is Veratrum album 30 or 200, a good remedy for retching and severe nausea accompanied by great weakness.

Pregnancy nausea can also be treated with Ipecacuanha 30. I wish I'd known that during my first pregnancy 30 years ago. Then I could have taken the remedy twice daily until I felt much better. It would have been over in no time.

For ordinary nausea, Tabacum 30 or 200 remains my first choice. It won't fix nausea in every case, but if it works for you, that's great.

Above all, because it goes against the grain and means you're not simply going with the flow (which I personally always like). Don't let yourself be pressured if the doctor wants to prescribe you prochlorperazine or insists that you take antiemetics such as Emetrol.

Rather educate yourself further in homeopathy, build a small home medicine cabinet with Tabacum 30 or 200 (plus the other remedies mentioned above) and include a note with these instructions. Maybe there's still room in your handbag – where the unfortunate cigarettes used to be hidden.

Warm regards,

Yours,
