Review of the seminar 'Homeopathic constitutional remedies for animals' with Christiane P. Krüger

News

Seminar held on 10 and 11 November 2018 in Kandern

This two-day seminar focused on the constitutional remedies. After a short introduction there was an overview of the concept of disease in homeopathy. It was also briefly recapped how acute and chronic conditions are distinguished. The extensive field of the theory of miasms was also touched on and explained.

Over time the individual technical terms have undergone changes in meaning. It is important to bear this in mind when consulting various specialist texts.

After that the seminar moved briskly on to the main topic.

Ms Krüger deliberately put the term constitutional remedies in "quotation marks" in her presentation. Because: constitutional remedies do not exist in the strict sense. A constitutional remedy is therefore a remedy selected according to constitutional criteria for a chronic condition. Ms Krüger emphasised how important a good collection and weighting of symptoms is in this context.

In addition to assessing general and mental symptoms, a striking or peculiar symptom can serve as a particular guide.

Numerous remedy pictures such as Phosphorus, Lycopodium or Staphisagria were explained in detail, with photo examples or videos of the respective animal patients.

In the second part of the seminar participants were required to be more active:

Using numerous case history protocols and case documentations, the participants were able to practise intensively collecting and weighting symptoms and arriving at an appropriate remedy choice. The concentrated work with the numerous case studies proved worthwhile and resulted in a good training effect for all. In her presentation Ms Krüger also repeatedly illustrated how she proceeds with repertorisation, weighs up and evaluates the results. For example, cases included ANJA, the four-year-old female Dobermann suffering from a dry, white, scaly rash; BESSY, the blonde female Labrador with behavioural problems; JUNIUS, a four-year-old brown-and-white patched Bobtail-mix male dog suffering from radiologically diagnosed osteoarthritis of the left shoulder joint; and CAPRA, the 12-year-old horse with episodes of suffocation.

After each teaching unit the participants had ample time to ask questions. Current cases from the participants' practices could also be presented and discussed.

The entire seminar was recorded on DVD and will be available soon.
