The baby is here, but the birth isn't over yet.
Next comes the afterbirth, namely the placenta. Usually the afterbirth is expelled within the first half hour after the baby is born.
Sometimes complications can occur, especially if the uterus is too sluggish. If the placenta is not expelled after birth, this can lead to bleeding and be dangerous for the mother.
You may already have Caulophyllum tucked away in your medicine cabinet? Now is the time to take it out again!
I remember an incident that took place many years ago. I was then a newly qualified homeopath and received a mysterious phone call.
“You must come immediately!” whispered a barely audible voice at the other end of the line.
“Yes, of course … but … WHO IS THIS?” I asked.
It turned out to be one of the midwives from our town who knew about my training courses on homeopathy and wanted to ask me for advice. She was looking after a new mother who had given birth to her baby at home.
The birth itself had been uneventful and the newborn was healthy and lively.
But three hours had passed since the delivery and the afterbirth still hadn't been delivered. I set off straight away to the young mother's house because I knew this situation could become dangerous.
Synthetic oxytocin had already been administered. Oxytocin is a natural hormone that stimulates contractions during labour.
Synthetic oxytocin is sometimes used after birth to stimulate the afterbirth. But I needn't point out that in this case it did NOT help.
When I arrived, the young mother was lying on the kitchen floor. At first I was worried she might have fainted or collapsed. Fortunately it looked worse than it was. The new mother was only trying to cool herself down.
Four hours had passed since the birth.
The midwife had tried in vain to persuade the woman to go to hospital, as the situation was becoming increasingly critical. But the young mother would not hear of it.
She was not only obstructive but utterly stubborn. For her it was clear that she would NOT go to hospital. Period.
I briefly discussed with the midwife that Caulophyllum was the appropriate remedy for retained placenta, not least because the mother was being so incredibly stubborn. But as you know, I am not a doctor and am not permitted to administer medicines.
This task must be carried out by a trained and state-certified professional, and so the remedy was administered by the midwife. We chose Caulophyllum C200.
I looked at the clock.
Within THREE minutes the afterbirth was delivered. THREE minutes.
Caulophyllum C200 had successfully stimulated the uterus. A small homeopathic dose was sufficient to awaken the body's natural functions, trigger the afterpains and expel the placenta intact.
After many anxious hours, mother and child were finally able to begin their life together.
Homeopathy saved mother and child from a potentially dangerous situation. And with a single dose.
If this dose had not worked immediately, it could have been tried again several times, perhaps every half hour or so, given the seriousness of the situation in this case.
