Potencies make the difference
I am 1.52 metres tall. Compared to the rest of the world, tiny — nano-size, that is.
If you ask me, there are many advantages to being on the smaller side. One of them is that in my profession I know what I'm talking about: I teach, write and consult on the subject of homeopathy.
Don't see the connection? Here’s a little reminder: homeopathic remedies operate according to the nanoparticle principle (Ullmann 2006). That means a homeopathic administration could also be described as a nano-dosage.
Nano-therapy
You may now be wondering what I mean by that. Perhaps you also think that such very small dosages can't really do anything.
We're brought up to believe that bigger is always better. You probably agree, don't you? But everything in life has a purpose and a raison d'être, no matter how big or small. American trucks are unbeatable on long hauls, but who does not also appreciate the elegance and finesse of an Italian vintage sports car?
Lamborghini and nano-dosages have one thing in common: they are incredibly elegant. Imagine, for a moment, roaring along the hairpins of the Stelvio Pass in a truck.
At 150 km/h.
Now imagine that truck laden with logs. That would be anything but elegant, right? Moreover completely ineffective and — if I may be so bold — simply an imposition.
The nimble, elegant Lamborghini, by contrast, would purr along the road like a sleek little cat and glide around the bends as if wrapped in silk. It would become one with the spectacular panorama.
The elegant method
Just like homeopathy.
Precisely because I am so small, I like the idea that the smaller things are, the better. In terms of homeopathy this is not wishful thinking. Indeed, the effectiveness of homeopathic remedies can at least partly be attributed to these dosages.
In homeopathy the raw material is first transformed into a true homeopathic remedy through a process of dilution and succussion — we call this potentisation.
You know, homeopathy is still shrouded in a great mystery because modern science has not yet discovered how and why it works.
Whatever lies behind it, the absence of side effects is a hallmark of the homeopathic method. Perhaps homeopathic remedies are precisely because of their size in many cases the distinctly more effective and safer option compared with regular doses of the untreated starting substance.
Chamomilla
Take chamomile (Chamomilla) for example. Both the tea herb and the mother tincture can be given for teething pain in children. Especially when the children are extremely irritable.
But once the chamomile is processed into a homeopathic remedy — for example Chamomilla C200 by dilution to a tiny dose of the starting substance — the complaints can be treated even better and more effectively.
With my own children I found that chamomile as a dried herb was helpful, but the effect did not penetrate nearly as deeply and the teething problems were not resolved as quickly.
I experimented a lot with both variants — first with chamomile tincture and later with the homeopathic potencies. Time and again I could observe that the homeopathic form not only immediately made the pain and irritability disappear, but also seemed to protect the babies from further teething problems in the long term. (And thus secured the healthy sleep of the whole family!)
Moreover, the advantages of nano-dosages become clear when they are made from raw materials other than the benign and harmless chamomile (in homeopathy the botanical name Chamomilla is used, e.g. Chamomilla 200). Remarkably, the gentle stimulus of an exponentially smaller dose of the starting substance can activate the healing power of substances that in their pure form are highly toxic!
Toxic substances become healing remedies
By dilution into these so-called nano-dosages, all toxic aspects of the starting substance seem to be removed while the healing effect is stimulated.
A good example is Nux vomica. Nux vomica — also called the poison nut or strychnine tree — is anything but palatable as a raw plant, since it contains the highly poisonous strychnine. Unpleasant effects of the poison nut include nausea, intensely painful abdominal cramps, diarrhoea and many other serious symptoms that I will spare you here.
But… as soon as this poisonous plant is diluted and succussed to a precise nano-level, the toxic properties disappear and the hidden healing powers of Nux vomica can unfold. The homeopathic preparation — in nano-dosage — has proven effective in the treatment of diarrhoea and vomiting. It can even be used preventively.
In fact Nux vomica in nano-dosage (please do not forget how high the dilution is) is frequently used in homeopathic practice for food poisoning and gastroenteritis in children, adults and animals.
Do you think all this is too good to be true? Then please think it over carefully. The famous physician and toxicologist Paracelsus already wrote: “All things are poison, and nothing is without poison; only the dose makes a thing not a poison.”

Modern research and homeopathy
There are today scientists who compare the mode of action of homeopathic remedies with that of nanoparticles. Dr Iris Bell and her colleagues at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine have written an extremely interesting paper on this. The study is available at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3539158/ and is entitled “Testing the Nanoparticle Allostatic Cross Adaption-Sensitization Model for Homeopathic Remedy Effects.” In her research the author has identified people as complex, adaptable and interconnected systems and homeopathic remedies as network-adaptable nano-medicines.
This medical practice — lovingly called homeopathy by all of us — has proven itself as a scientific method for 230 years. Since the late 18th century this has been confirmed in controlled clinical trials, epidemiological surveys and studies of clinical outcomes!
There is hardly a better example of the old saying “small but perfectly formed” than homeopathy! (And I like to think that it also applies to my modest — 1.52-metre-tall — self.)
Homeopathy works! Spread the word.
Warmly,
Yours
