Below we have compiled some recommendations from Ms Maute on the subject of "spring" for you:
When frost is expected, Ms Maute recommends a preventive treatment with Aconitum C 200, which is poured into the root zone; this prevents frost from entering the vascular tissues. This helps plants reach the summer with less susceptibility to disease (6–8 globules in 30 L water).
For frost damage followed by sun exposure or sunscald on leaves, Belladonna C 200 is indicated. The plants then show brownish-red foliage; this can occur in garden and houseplants (6–8 globules in 30 L water).
Calendula C 30 (garden, greenhouse, houseplants) is the third 'ally' after frost and winter sun when plants have developed cracks, e.g. on fruit trees. It is particularly effective for abrasions caused by pruning or thinning on shrubs and trees (6–8 globules in 30 L water).
Calendula is a 'growth starter' — it promotes root formation and healthy growth, which is why it is unbeatable after pricking out, repotting or transplanting. Seedlings are briefly dipped in a Calendula bath before planting. Bare-root roses are dipped overnight in a plastic bucket of Calendula water in a frost-free place before planting (10 globules in approx. 10–15 L water). Seeds of tomatoes, courgettes, peppers, etc. can be soaked for a few hours before sowing in a dish of Calendula water (6 globules in 1–2 L water).
They're back now: slugs. Overnight they can finish off tender young lettuce or vegetable seedlings and also many beloved plants in the flowerbed. A tried-and-tested remedy: Helix tosta D 6.
Pour Helix tosta over the young plants and the soil. You can also water it around the vegetable garden or flowerbeds – it works like an 'invisible' slug fence. After rain it should be reapplied after about 3–7 days.
Dosage Helix tosta D 6 – acts very quickly, but not so long-lasting: 10 ml to 10 L water (in liquid form), ½ teaspoon = approx. 80 globules in 10 L water.
Silicea C 200 (garden, greenhouse, container plants, houseplants): A very good plant tonic for all plants, which should be applied in early spring (early to late March). Often a single application per season is sufficient to strengthen the plants. Healthy plants show fewer diseases and less pest pressure. Also for plants that are very weak after unfavourable overwintering, are 'ailing' and may even show fungal infection. Silicea C 200 should be applied at most three times per season; the last application should be mid to late July, otherwise the plants may grow too lush before winter. Garden: 6–8 globules in 30 L water. Houseplants: 4 globules in 1 L water.
Solidago C 30: A very good remedy that was already used by the ancient Germans for wound healing. For plants it heals root injuries after repotting and transplanting. Solidago C 30 brings balance to a plant's water regulation. It is used after periods of wetness and cold. In over-fertilised and 'salinised' soils previously treated conventionally it acts as a 'draining agent'. The soil can regenerate more quickly (6–8 globules in 30 L water).
Important before every application of the homeopathic plant tonics: allow to dissolve completely and stir well with a plastic or wooden spoon.
Also included is a preview from the interview with Heidi Brand, in which Ms Maute talks about sooty mould on roses, which can also be prevented in spring.
