When the new year arrives with colic and stomach pain – whether in children or adults – spirits are quickly dampened and nobody is happy. Not the new year, not the baby, not the parents and probably not even the neighbours!
But there is no need to worry. As always, homoeopathy is on hand to put things right.
Homoeopathy for infant colic…
Over the years I have repeatedly written about the topic of colic, for example in The Secret Life of a Baby with Three-Month Colic and Nipping Intestinal Colic in the Bud. Today I would like to introduce another homoeopathic remedy that you should always have to hand – one of the best for babies with colic: Natrium phosphoricum D6.
Many parents find it difficult to give babies homoeopathic remedies in the form of hard little pellets. Nat phos is conveniently also available as tablets that dissolve immediately when placed in the baby's mouth. (Please always follow the manufacturer's dosage instructions on the packaging).
For me, Nat phos is a "medicine for the changing bag". Why? Because the changing bag is always close at hand. If the baby is at home, the changing bag is too. If the baby is out and about, the changing bag comes along. That way you never have to search for long when you need Nat phos.

… food poisoning and heartburn
But that's not all. Natrium phosphoricum is also suitable for adults and therefore belongs in every well-stocked homoeopathic family medicine cabinet. It is one of several homoeopathic remedies that can be given for food poisoning.
I have already reported how Nat phos helped my father give up his antacids (a real David versus Goliath).
Holiday meals can also be a good reason to have Nat phos to hand. (Roast, chips, crisps and mayonnaise – I'm looking at you!)
Natrium phosphoricum for acidity
Nat phos is indeed an excellent remedy for acidity – especially for acid belching. It is known to neutralise excess lactic acid produced by excessive sugar consumption. Also, blisters on the tip of the tongue or aphthae can heal better, particularly when they occur with belching and digestive disturbances.
If the skin has a greenish tinge, this can be an indication for Nat phos. (I'm not sure I would treat the green patina on silver jewellery in the same way – after all, this is medicine. But the symptom is certainly a reliable third leg for our metaphorical stool when choosing a remedy against the negative health effects of acidity).
So keep Natrium phosphoricum to hand just in case – whether for the New Year baby or for the parents. You know: homoeopathy is for everyone!
I wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy New Year!
Homoeopathy helps – pass it on!
Sincerely,
Yours
