The carefully designed formulation of Unimedica Vitamin C Retard capsules releases the active ingredient vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in a time-delayed and even manner. The small beads consist of several layers of vitamin C that are released gradually. This supplies the body with a steady supply of vitamin C over several hours.

The water-soluble vitamin C is essential for the body. It supports the immune system and protects cells from oxidative stress. It is also important for the normal firmness and elasticity of skin and tissues such as cartilage, bones, teeth and blood vessels, as it contributes to normal collagen formation, a structural protein.

Vitamin C is an essential, water-soluble and heat-sensitive vitamin. The body cannot produce or store it. What it does not need immediately is excreted unused. Due to the special formulation of the Vitamin C Retard capsule as ascorbic acid pellets with a shellac coating, the valuable vitamin is released gradually over a period of up to 8 hours. Vitamin C is found in many fruits and vegetables. Citrus fruits and sweet potatoes, but also berries, acerola cherries and rose hips contain high levels of ascorbic acid.
