Description
A piquant delight from the Egyptian sun with an added nutritional benefit
Unimedica black cumin oil is virgin — i.e. pure, untreated and unfiltered. It is very rich in unsaturated fatty acids, containing 23% monounsaturated and 55% polyunsaturated fatty acids. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are associated with numerous physiological functions in the body that support our wellbeing.
Virgin, cold-pressed black cumin oil with a high content of unsaturated fatty acids
Unimedica black cumin oil is made from high-quality Egyptian black cumin seeds (Nigella sativa). The sun-ripened seeds are gently cold-pressed at low pressure in a German oil mill according to thousand-year-old Egyptian tradition. Cold-pressing preserves the valuable active ingredients and the high quality of the oil. This black cumin oil contains no preservatives or other undesirable additives.
Because the oil is not filtered after pressing, the important sediments and suspended particles of the black cumin seeds remain, along with all their valuable constituents. The characteristic spicy flavour of black cumin is particularly pronounced in unfiltered black cumin oil.
The thymoquinone content in black cumin oil: a sign of quality
Unimedica black cumin oil is characterised by a high thymoquinone content, which ranges between 380 and 700 mg per 100 ml. These natural variations in content result from different growing conditions or the time of harvest.
Black cumin oil in the kitchen
Black cumin is an integral part of Oriental cuisine. Its oil lends many dishes such as salads, stews, soups, dips or sauces a distinctive spicy note. Nutritionally, black cumin oil also makes a valuable contribution due to its high content of unsaturated fatty acids: simply add some black cumin oil to dishes after cooking and enjoy the flavour explosion.
Best used drop by drop, as unfiltered black cumin oil is more intensely flavoured than the filtered variety. The oil can also be enjoyed neat to benefit from its many plant compounds, or used as a dip, for example when snacking on raw vegetables.
What exactly is black cumin?
Black cumin (Nigella sativa) is not related to common caraway, but is a white-flowering member of the buttercup family. Originally from the Orient, black cumin has been used there for centuries as a spice and for oil production.
Each bottle contains 1,000 ml of black cumin oil.
Vegan and free from the following additives
Unimedica unfiltered black cumin oil is free from additives such as colourings, stabilisers, preservatives, separating agents such as magnesium stearate, and is non-GM, lactose-free, gluten-free and vegan.
