PREFACE TO THE EIGHTH EDITION
A NEW edition of Ruddock's Diseases of Infants and Children having been imperatively called for, it was decided to overhaul thoroughly this popular work and to bring it, especially with regard to its pathology and its non-medical treatment, up to present date. This has involved a good deal of re-writing and the addition of several supplementary sections, notably sections on Tonsils and Adenoids, Rheumatism in Children, Appendicitis and Bacilluria. Some hints on the place of operation in such affections as tonsils and adenoids, appendicitis, etc., have, it is believed, both widened the outlook of the book and added to its value. The action and value of homoeopathic medication remains the same from generation to generation, and little alteration has been made in the parts of the work that deal with this subject. In spite of necessary alterations and additions, the general plan and arrangement of the book has been 'tudiously preserved.
