The yeast Saccharomyces boulardii is related to brewer's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) but has specific properties. As a probiotic it can colonise the gastrointestinal tract and inhibit or displace the growth of unwanted microorganisms.
This dietary supplement from Fairvital is standardised and contains at least 6.4 billion organisms per capsule. Formulated in DRcaps® capsules for delayed release. Although this probiotic finds optimal conditions in the human digestive tract, it is not a permanent component of the intestinal flora. It is detectable in the gut only as long as it is taken with food. If consumption is stopped, the yeast is rapidly expelled from the gut.
