An end to perfidious psycho-staging
Toxic people can be anywhere - in your own family, among friends, colleagues and even in church congregations. They don't usually leave their targets with broken bones or open wounds. Instead, they stage a perfidious show around their target. It is often impossible to see through this deceit. And the victims, who are often very deeply injured, generally do not find adequate support from psychotherapists or doctors. Shannon Thomas knows enough cases of affected people. And she has succeeded in writing a truly empathetic and practical guide that can lead to a gradual exit from toxic relationships/patterns through to sustainable healing.

Very good as an introduction to the topic
Shannon Thomas writes very clearly and comprehensibly. I have worked with survivors of psychological violence myself and therefore know how difficult it is to make these survivors understand that they have been manipulated and are perhaps still being manipulated. This multi-stage process, which Shannon Thomas describes, is easy to understand. All in all, a highly recommended book.

insightful - I feel seen
Not so good up front: it's written too generally for me, examples show more. Violence is very difficult and hard to grasp. And just describing it leaves a lot to be desired. If you want an insight, here's a film that describes the problem well: Rebecca - there are many film adaptations. Netflix has a current one in its selection. If the protagonist had said: She follows me silently and scares me, it would have been dismissed. Positive: the book has confirmed me. A psychotherapist used psychological violence on me. Direct examples would be more helpful for my question: yes, is my assumption correct? But I'm more certain now.

I'm sorry for you. It's not uncommon for psychologists to be damaged and exploit their power.
