Organic Nettle - 10:1 Nettle Leaf Extract - 1,000 mg per daily dose (2 capsules) - 180 capsules - from Unimedica

Nettle – the underestimated native superfood

Our organic nettle leaf extract captures the essence of the often-overlooked nettle in a concentrated, vegan capsule. This resilient natural beauty is unjustly removed from gardens as a weed. Yet it holds such potential that the renowned herbalist Maria Treben considered it the most important medicinal plant. In many cultures, nettle is used for both ritualistic and naturopathic purposes.

For our organic nettle leaf extract (10:1), the leaves from organically grown nettles are gently pressed to preserve the many valuable nutrients of this highly regarded wild herb.

A nutritional powerhouse in a humble plant

Nettle is a native superfood found in almost every garden, though often unwelcome due to its stinging properties. It is rich in nutrients and secondary plant compounds. Nettle tea is frequently recommended during spring detox routines and is a popular home remedy for a variety of uses aimed at supporting the body's self-cleansing processes.

It takes all of this to match the nutritional profile of nettle

To absorb a similar amount of nutrients found in nettle, one would need to consume at least pork, organ meats, leafy greens like spinach and peas, milk and dairy products, bananas, apricots, strawberries, pears, grapes, citrus fruits, nuts, potatoes, millet, vegetable oils, fatty fish, and whole grain products.

A true all-rounder from the garden

As a tea, infusion, vegetable, or salad, nettle shines with its valuable ingredients. As a so-called indicator plant, nettle thrives in nitrogen-rich soils. In ancient times, its fibers were processed into fabric known as nettle cloth. It was also used for dyeing. Today, nettle manure is used as a natural pesticide and fertilizer in organic gardening. It is also known as a hair tonic.

The origin of the nettle's name is no mystery

Worldwide, there are up to 70 species of nettle plants. In Germany, we mainly know the large and small nettle. Almost everyone has encountered them: the tiny stinging hairs on the leaves can cause painful, itchy welts on the skin — hence the name. These hairs contain a stinging liquid that protects the plant from being eaten. To avoid the burning acids, the leaves should be plucked from the stem from bottom to top and gently crushed or finely chopped.

Each jar of Unimedica organic nettle leaf extract contains 180 capsules – a 3-month supply.

Native medicinal plant
Nettle helps me with my allergy symptoms, whether hay fever, house dust or cat hair allergy, because the symptoms are less severe. The extract supports me in detoxifying and purifying my body and also dissolves water retention, so it promotes the excretory function of the kidneys and I therefore feel more vital. I find the nettle extract to be of very high quality and it is really practical when I don't have time to prepare nettle tea. With the capsules, I find it essential to drink plenty of water. Nettle contains phytohormones that support hormonal balance and thus regulate hormone levels. They are similar to oestrogen, which is why it has a balancing effect during the menopause. It is very impressive that stinging nettle is so rich in flavonoids such as rutin and quercetin, but also in minerals such as potassium and thus has an antioxidant effect in the body, protecting the cells from oxidative stress and supporting kidney function. For me, stinging nettle is also so valuable because it helps with blood formation, and I also take iron tablets, preferably from the curry leaf, as I tolerate the herbal version very well. Stinging nettle is simply multi-faceted, it has a favourable effect on blood pressure, blood lipids and vascular health. It also has an antibacterial effect!
