Unimedica Organic Fenugreek Capsules consist of a plant-based cellulose shell and contain ground fenugreek seeds (Trigonella foenum-graecum) from controlled organic cultivation. The unassuming herb owes its name to the shape of its seeds. The grains resemble little goat's horns. This member of the legume family is also translated from the Latin as "Greek hay". Apparently, due to its nutrient content, the plant has a long history as animal fodder.

Where fenugreek grows

Fenugreek originates from the Middle East and the Mediterranean. It was cultivated as far back as the Copper Age, according to archaeological finds. Fenugreek seeds are said to have been found in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun. Benedictine monks brought and cultivated the plant in Europe, and Charlemagne even ordered its cultivation around 800 AD.

Today fenugreek is grown mainly in India, North Africa and Turkey.
