Practical and very versatile in application
This book seems to me to be an excellent introduction to naturopathic medicine. By applying the active ingredients externally, any remaining inhibitions about self-collected and processed plants and one's own, perhaps still limited, level of knowledge are overcome. By familiarising yourself with naturopathy in this way, you gain confidence and are often rewarded with excellent results. The chapters on the basics of ointment production provide a wonderful basis for being able to easily implement the recipes that follow. Here you learn how to use the active ingredients, fats and oils as well as consistency agents in a targeted manner and are taught the methods of extracts and tinctures. Materials and the procedure for making ointments are discussed and assistance is given in the event of problems. Even warnings for certain plants and their use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, for epilepsy or their compatibility for children are listed. The recipes that follow the basic section are structured according to application and usually contain a few introductory words on use, as well as a colour-coded list of ingredients and brief instructions on how to make them, which, thanks to the previous chapter, seemed perfectly adequate to me. For the most part, the ointments listed require a considerable number of ingredients and/or pre-prepared extracts or tinctures. Nevertheless, there are also some simpler ointments in the book that can be made very quickly and easily. I really liked the structure, design and selection of recipes in this part of the book. Thanks to the arrangement according to symptoms, it is very easy to find the right remedy, prepare it in a targeted manner and thus remedy the symptoms. Whether it's the basics or the recipe section, this book impressed me across the board. It provides me with a guide that enables me to make my own ointments for a wide variety of applications and needs, all of whose ingredients I am familiar with. Great!
