A traditional natural product rediscovered – for modern conscious living
In the remote highlands of the Himalayas, nestled between towering rock faces beneath an ancient layer of ice, lies a unique treasure. Only when the sun warms the rock in summer does it emerge from the crevices as a deep-brown, resin-like substance: Shilajit, also known as Mumijo. This natural resin has fascinated people for centuries because of its distinctive origin and composition – a gift of nature from the mountain heights that is being rediscovered today.
With great respect, the peoples of the Himalayas have used Mumijo Shilajit for centuries for a variety of purposes. Today it has also arrived in the West and finds its place in the daily lives of those who value authenticity and consciously chosen rituals.
What is Mumijo Shilajit — and how is it formed?
Shilajit, also known as Mumijo, is a resin-like, mineral-rich substance. In its dried form Shilajit is reminiscent of amber and is characterised by a tacky consistency and an earthy aroma.
The exact process of formation is still not fully understood. It is believed that Shilajit forms over long periods from plant material that is preserved in rock layers under the influence of pressure, temperature and microbial processes. Its composition includes a variety of organic and mineral constituents, including natural acids and plant residues.
“Black gold” from the Himalayas with 80% fulvic acid
Fulvic acid is a naturally occurring organic acid formed by the microbial breakdown of plant material in soils, sediments and peat bogs. It is highly water-soluble – both in acidic and alkaline environments – and is characterised by its small molecular size, which gives it high reactivity and binding capacity.
This organic acid occurs in various natural settings, but in Mumijo Shilajit from the remote heights of the Himalayas fulvic acid is particularly highly concentrated. There it is a characteristic component of the natural resin that is contained in our capsules at a standardised content of 80%.
Respect for nature: sustainable harvesting of Mumijo Shilajit
The Shilajit is collected at altitudes between 2,000 and 3,000 metres in the Indian part of the Himalayas – regions known for their clean air, sparse soils and centuries-old natural purity. There it is traditionally and sustainably gathered by hand and processed according to modern quality standards. Our capsules are entirely plant-based and suitable for a vegan lifestyle.
Unique, with some similarities to healing clays
Substances with a composition similar to fulvic acid are also found in other fermented natural materials – for example in therapeutic peat, certain mineral clays or well-matured humus. Mumijo Shilajit, however, is particularly rich in these valuable substances due to its special process of formation.
A natural product with a diverse tradition
Mumijo Shilajit contains various natural constituents that are part of its long-standing traditional use. In Ayurvedic and Tibetan folk medicine Shilajit has been valued for centuries and is, among other things, referred to as a tonic. There it is described with terms such as “Rasayana” and “Yoga Vahi”. Traditionally, intake is often recommended on an empty stomach. Use takes place within the context of conscious lifestyles and cultural practices.
Versatile in use — valued individually
Mumijo Shilajit finds its place in different life phases and everyday situations — whether during times of increased demand, for deliberate integration into daily routines, or as a supplementary part of sports-related nutrition. Many users appreciate it as a natural product with a distinctive origin and make it a regular part of their personal wellbeing routine.
