Produktinformationen
Magnesium from the Zechstein Sea
This magnesium chloride is extracted from the Zechstein Sea beneath Europe, protected from any environmental influences. Because of its oily consistency it is referred to as magnesium oil, although it contains no oil. It contains magnesium in its purest form.
The Zechstein Sea stretched roughly from northern England to Russia and dried up around 250,000 years ago. Today the magnesium oil is gently extracted from depths of more than 1,500 metres and dissolved in pure water. For Unimedica's magnesium oil, naturally energised water is used for this purpose.
If it tingles on first use
Skin reactions such as itching or slight reddening are not uncommon when magnesium oil is first applied. They usually disappear after a few days and can be regarded as part of the product's action.
The cause of unpleasant side effects can be the skin's pH. Magnesium reacts particularly to an acidic pH. The skin should be allowed to acclimatise to the magnesium oil.
How the skin gradually adapts to the magnesium oil
There are two ways to allow the skin to become used to the magnesium slowly:
Option 1: The 31% concentrated magnesium oil can be washed off the skin about 10–15 minutes after application. For subsequent applications, gradually increase the time the magnesium oil remains on the skin until the skin has adapted.
Option 2: Alternatively, the saturated magnesium oil can be diluted with clear, fresh water directly before use. This reduces the concentration and makes the skin less sensitive. This procedure is particularly recommended for sensitive skin. However, when using a diluted magnesium chloride solution, the amount applied must be increased to achieve the intended effect.
Original Zechstein magnesium oil is suitable as a non-greasy skin treatment and is particularly soothing for fatigued muscles, for example after physical exertion.
