Cordyceps sinensis has probably been collected and used for at least 1,000 years. The medicinal mushroom is first mentioned in the 15th century by Surkhar Nyamnyi Dorje (1439–1475).
For Fairvital's Cordyceps capsules, the use of caterpillars as hosts is avoided, as the fungus is cultivated on a rice/wood substrate and is therefore vegan.
