A natural treasure
Shea butter from Unimedica is a natural product — pure and without additives. In its production, the seeds, approximately 4 cm large fruit kernels (karité nuts) of the shea nut tree (also called karité tree, shea butter tree, shea tree or African butter tree) are dried, crushed, peeled and cold‑pressed to extract the pure vegetable oil. We use only unrefined, raw shea. The fruit kernels contain around 50% fat and many valuable constituents that help ensure the growth and continued existence of the species.
The shea tree grows in 21 African countries. However, it is difficult to propagate and grows very slowly. It only reaches full productivity after 50 years, which makes shea butter a high‑value raw material.
