A natural treasure
Shea butter from Unimedica is a natural product — pure and without additives. In its production the seeds — roughly 4 cm large fruit kernels (karité nuts) of the shea tree (also karité tree, shea-butter tree, shea tree or African butter tree) — are dried, crushed, shelled and cold-pressed to obtain the pure vegetable oil. We use only raw, unrefined shea. The kernels contain about 50% fat and many valuable constituents.
The shea tree grows in 21 African countries. However, it is difficult to propagate and grows very slowly. It only reaches full productivity after 50 years, which makes shea butter an expensive raw material.
