I don't want to get personal, but do your ankles sometimes also look swollen and misshapen? (And do you feel that way too?)
Swelling of individual body parts – not just swelling in general, but swellings that leave a dent in the tissue when you press the skin with a finger – are called oedema. Some people call it dropsy and some are simply annoyed by it.
Often toxins that have accumulated in the tissues are behind these oedemas; for example, too much salt in the tissue causes the body to retain water. At best the retained water can simply be uncomfortable, at worst it can cause severe pain.
Recently I wrote about Natrium muriaticum, the great water regulator. For dropsy, that is for oedematous swellings, Nat sulph is the first choice.
The difference between the two is that Nat sulph stimulates liver function and thus promotes detoxification.
That reminds me of an old-fashioned word you don't hear very often nowadays: people used to say that someone felt 'bilious', which doesn’t refer to digestive discomfort right after a meal.
Rather, this little word refers to processes that occur later in digestion, and describes a malaise that feels as if digestion is somehow not working properly (and it probably isn't).
The word 'bilious' was also used synonymously to describe a sullen, ill-tempered person. That doesn't really surprise you, does it? When someone feels unwell, they usually don't behave very well either.
If only they'd thought of Nat sulph!
Perhaps I should have written about this wonderful Schuessler salt a little earlier, because Nat sulph works well for people who suffer in hot, muggy weather. It is the perfect Schuessler salt for Florida! They really ought to add it to the drinking water there!
We've been visiting Florida regularly for years, but since we've moved here we have to get used to the hot weather. At first the heat gave me a hard time, I just couldn't function properly. Nat sulph D6, taken twice daily, helped me to be myself again. Don't get me wrong – it was still hot, after all this is Florida – but at least I was able to live again!
Nat sulph is a versatile salt; in my blog here I can only present a selection of its virtues. Bear in mind that it is also a good remedy for asthma, especially when attacks worsen in muggy heat. The same applies to arthritis that deteriorates in warm, humid weather.
In short: when it comes to oppressive heat and muggy weather – think Nat sulph.
So if you have good friends who suffer from tropical heat in Florida or anywhere else in the world, pass this on. Your friends will thank you!
