The Quarantine Quintet

News

How often have we heard someone say that nothing like this has ever happened? I myself have said it more than once, because after all, such a thing HASn't happened before! We have no words for what we're experiencing right now.

Don't get me wrong. There have been pandemics before. But never before have there been lockdowns in which whole sections of the population had to remain under quarantine for a long time.

It was bound to lead to unforeseen complications.

Many people returned to their workplaces this week and discovered that something is definitely not the same as before:

The clothes have shrunk!

All over the country hips are literally bursting out of summer dresses that have become too tight, the jacket pinches at the shoulders, and trousers that fitted perfectly before the pandemic now simply won't zip up.

What on earth could have happened?

For the last 80 or so days pyjamas and jogging trousers fitted perfectly and you wonder what happened to the smart office suits. Of course, you'll find the answer in the kitchen. When you sit at home all the time and worry, you occasionally soothe yourself with food. If you're not careful, a spare tyre or two can quickly turn into a catastrophe. After all, alongside a healthy chicken broth you might just treat yourself to a chocolate cookie (or twelve).

And suddenly the scales mysteriously show five or ten pounds more.

Whether you call it the "quarantine quintet" or "COVID-10", extra pounds have accompanied most of us through the pandemic. What to do?

Maybe the mask requirement isn't such a bad thing after all and is an ally in need — at least in this respect. Honestly — just try to push a Sicilian cannolo through that thing! It's not exactly user-friendly, though.

With Homeopathy to the Ideal Weight, Rosina Sonnenschmidt

I have already written about overweight and losing weight; back then it was about pounds that stubbornly remain after childbirth. The same homeopathic method can be used for other kinds of excess weight: a dose of Nat phos D6 before each meal. (Please remember that by "dose" we mean the number of tablets or globules specified by the manufacturer on the leaflet.)

I wrote that a few years ago. Over time I've learned more too and have slightly modified the protocol. Many of my students complained that they forget to take Nat phos before every meal. I can understand that. Between cooking, setting the table and gathering the family it can happen very quickly.

So many took the remedy after eating. And guess what happened? For some, that worked perfectly well. These days I tell my students not to panic if they forget to take Nat phos before a meal. The remedy seems to work just as well after the meal.

Of course this isn't an excuse for bad eating habits. Too many sweets, fast food and empty calories literally cause trouble. But if we make an effort to eat healthily so the pounds fall off, Nat phos D6 can give the exact nudge the body needs. All the more so if we're not only overweight but also have digestive problems like bloating and heartburn.

Does it work for everyone? Probably not. But it's definitely worth trying. Then you too can ditch your comfy jogging trousers and fit back into your favourite dress. This strategy works better than the excuse "it's become too tight for you." No one buys that — probably because almost everyone is carrying their own "quarantine quintet".

And remember: When you're back at work and finally have the chance to exchange news with your colleagues again, feel free to tell them where your new composure comes from. It's a wonderful opportunity to tell everyone what homeopathy can do. Spread the word!

Warmly,

Joette
