Hahnemann's concept of miasms, which has been reformulated and reinterpreted many times up to the present day, is regarded by some homeopaths as a vague, outdated idea, while others build their entire methodology on it. The varied use of the concept of 'miasms' often leads to confusion and fuels debate.
'Spectrum of Homeopathy' aims to portray the diversity of theories in their development from 1828 to 2010 and to demonstrate their usefulness in practice through typical case examples. In the interview Rajan Sankaran sums up our purpose: 'For me, a miasm is, first and foremost, something that should be practically applicable.'
The range of contributions extends from traditional concepts of scrofula and tuberculinism, through miasmatics as a precursor to modern trauma theory, to current miasm models for case analysis by remedy groups.
